Inspiration- Saturday Hues

Saturday Hues is inspired by conversations that my family and I started a few years ago. It was not intentional. It just started as a way we connected. It was the weekend, and everyone was home. My husband and I would wake up around 6 am, like the crazies we are. And spend like 2 hours in our bathroom, talking about things that happened during the week, or a dream, or if something was heavy on our hearts. We just indulged in our connectedness. One topic would lead to another until our baby boy woke up, and the day actually started.

On the other hand, my girls and I had our shopping dates scheduled on Saturdays. So, during our shopping trips, we would catch up on things going on in their worlds. I know some people sit down every night at the dinner table and talk about their day. That’s amazing! But not in my household. I deal with the public for a living, so honestly, if it’s not an urgent situation that needs to be addressed immediately, our convo’s were scheduled for the weekend.

On Saturday evenings, I would spend hours on the phone with family and friends, just catching up. The hues of our conversations depended on what was happening with each person. We talked about things happening in the world, good or bad, fashion, music, tv, hair and beauty, culture, or just that one damn neighbor that needed to mind their business. The hues were endless, but as in reality, there are many different shades, but they all trace back to the primary colors.

Saturday Hues: primary shades are gold, blue, green, and orange. Each Hue explores a different “shade” of life. Golden Hues represent wins, gratitude, and celebrations. Blue Hues represent vulnerability, loss/grief, and mental wellness. Growth/Green Hues represent lessons learned, personal development, difficult conversations that we had to have to allow growth, and understanding challenging perspectives. Last but not least, and my favorite, Warm/Orange Hues. Warm Hues represent family, friends, and community. I love talking about family, the good and bad. I am who I am because of them. People don’t want to admit that, but it is the truth.

Lastly, these conversations were so important to my growth. I did not realize it at the time, but they helped me in so many ways. The two hour long bathroom conversations with my husband allowed me to be vulnerable. We discussed everything and anything, which built our trust. Communication is Key! Conversations with my children allowed me to meet them where they were. I was allowed in their world, and I enjoyed every moment, the good, bad, ugly, and indifferent. Many of the conversations with my family and friends allowed me to understand different perspectives. This kept me connected to my true self. All this helped me immensely in my work life. Sometimes we don't realize how things are changing because we are always adapting. Saturday Hues gives you a moment to slow down, tap in, and indulge in conversations that are for lifelong healing.
